- Talk to your parents / clergy / youth group leaders / teachers / health educators about your sexuality questions.
- Know the Law: read up on the Health Youth Act.
- Know your rights.
- Explore other great resources.
2. Advocate For Your Rights
- Join the Healthy Youth Alliance! Meet the movers and shakers in the state who are fighting for comprehensive sex ed in schools.
- Start talking with your health teachers and principals about the importance of comprehensive sex education.
- Attend school board meetings to advocate for sex ed curricula that complies with the Healthy Youth Alliance.
3. Spread the Word
- See if there is a Teen Council in your area and join. Teen Council is a peer sex educator program run by Planned Parenthood in some areas. Find out which Planned Parenthood is closest to you.
- Join the Facebook page “I Support Comprehensive Sex Ed in Washington Schools”. Find others near you with similar interests.
- Write a letter to the editor of your local paper or school newspaper.
4. Lobby
- Lobby the state legislature in early spring. Planned Parenthood and NARAL organize teen lobby days, with training provided, which you can join.
- Lobby at the national level: encourage Congress to fully fund comprehensive sexual health education at the federal level.
